Bonsai – Silver Birch Betula bonsai trees Part 2 – by mikbonsai

So everyone this it will calm and clear i’m working on silver birch betula mommy bullseye i have two of these and the two videos part 1 and part 2 those of you who are new and visiting is hit the subscribe button and then take the mill and get the box and save that way you will receive notifications of all my ugg boots and you will not miss it hello everyone this victim count and just to recap and I first started in once I it goes with the school trees and my earlier vigils are me working with small trees and what I was doing with the trees and then i use covered big trees and lately all the videos have been about the victories and i thought it was time to go back to the little fellows and they feel bit neglected so of selected personal tree to work on today’s in the beech tree and it’s wired and we are in august now and it’s time to take my eyes off as the launch is Allah taken in the autumn and will end up with lots of wire mark so I’ll remove these wires quickly and it’s quite easy to take these them off this way as opposed to trying to cut them off if I was cut them off the specific if it was difficult at its time-consuming and so this is much faster way of a stack of me and you’ll repeat producers here under to the camera and again hold the wire this very similar to when you’re wiring it if you are going to take it off this way then hold the wiring is the wire that you trust don’t let the pouch take the stress of the removing you might even break them there we are yes that one and slightly mark the ranch but direction of dig is quite a thick thick wire and branch is quite thick so and this will also has been one mark slightly with its yep there’s a slight mark there it’s just as well I’m taking them off now ms cut into thee where the anchor was is cut in like badly I’ll have to try and sort that out and somehow try and get it to heal absolutely move a little bit of the bark and then if you look appeal in the to calais all just the last one no this couple more after this one here so hold the wire as you unravel the brown chalk and so that the pressure is being taken by a friend at the post of the branch and as the last one here it hasn’t improved so I’ll just prune it a little and tied it up and then the port needs a bit of a clean I’m not reporting it and there we are i’m going to start pruning it starting with big tallest branch first so cut it a lot here and generally i do from bottom up this is going downwards so this will have to come off to give it a clean line and this looks like if they’d just cut it back to them and these also will be reduced there and he in directional pruning and the direction is I want the drawers to go in the direction of a lease I’ve just got it drew out there and same thing with this long branch to reduce it to that the roaster start at gaunche and we will do here and this one dead branches remove not until it to their share I may have to rewire this it’s fighting with this but i’ll leave it till i leave this to another time it’s the wrong time so because i don’t want to remove this don’t you have to be wired and that may be why are going to separate them so that is a little will pull it back to here and this one the improved back to here and this one to hear nice now let it grow up thicken up a bit before we start cutting it back and up top but they’re so that’s all the pruning done for today and tidy up the pot remove these weeds and better of not required also we fear and pull them out with these tweezers and also use my hand to pull out the roots if I can we’ll just take these out lot of weeds here which we shouldn’t be here just take them out like want to retain the stones are quite nice I think well these little stones actually characters I’m gonna have to move them a little that is weeds out place cut them home today while we are here i’ll give it a quick turn we can have a look at the base of the trees have been cleaned of all moss and wings and we’ll try and give it a further clean around II don’t you know my views about moss getting up on the trunk and these surface roots there are few of these up here the screen goes up whether toothbrushes and Altos Russia mixed works why did not earn so no now tidy up the pot and can then go up back to its bench will resume in spea reads i’m just going to dress it up a little it looks pretty brown and uninteresting son just break it up with a little bit of this cat litter and have latched on to recently and then put the stones back and it was told that I took off I think that should really do yeah that makes it up nicely and the mall so go back and put these stones back just saw him around randomly that’s the plot none at least the top of the pot and the last thing to do is to clean the pot and you’re done for today after that unit quick time so you can see what the top of the mall now looks like this is a pop maybe pot gets a good clean I’ve got this damp cloth and I’m going to clean the pot removing any debris and watermarks and stuff like that and then dry it and finish off that polishing it that at of olive oil so I am going to add this piece of cloth with bit of olive oil can then use it to polish the pots of Vegas the olive oil coming onto the cloth here and just rather chance make sure that it’s all fully oiled if we start removing the excess oil okay now turn this loss round and then use that to polish it off last night and koala pat it’ll quickly use the olive oil that’s built onto the turntable lift the turntable a quick tidy up as well which is coming along quite nicely as you can see maybe up nice and shiny pop the tree back on well there to be habits that’s the front of you in a quick down and as we started just the front well that’s all the work I’m going to do on this little tree today and until next time is Victor Kahn formic online thanks for watching and watch more please subscribe thanks for watching part 1 part 2 for shortly stay tuned and for English Elm Bonsai Progression – The English Elm Bonsai Tree – Part 2

Hello everyone today we are looking at my English Elm Bonsai tree and the update is on the upper part and the lower part which were air layered and separated. The upper part is being grown as a tree on its own and the lower parts are being grown as a raft style. I last worked on it this time three years ago. So three years on the tree and the raft style are coming along quite nicely and we’ll take a look at both of them shortly.

So be sure to watch the whole video. So stay tuned. Hey it’s me Iqbal Khan, if you have not yet subscribed to mikbonsai then click the subscribe button and hit the bell icon to subscribe and receive notifications as I upload new videos. This is the front and the upper part of the air layered tree and three years ago that’s when it was done and this is where I carved it exactly three years ago and as you can see it’s starting to callus over, be interesting to see what happens when it gets to the to the end I suppose it will probably go inwards and turning the tree also some carving work was done at the top and all the way down to the side and along here and all this V was created and then this bark was removed and as you can see it’s healing over quite nicely starting to callus and it won’t be too long before it’s, the callousing comes to the end of the V.

That is the top of the pot and it’s full of debris and weeds so I’m going to start tidying it up and remove all these weeds and debris these are all weeds so I’ll remove these and also the debris this that leaves not from this tree but from neighboring trees and other few bits and pieces which trees drop and I’ll be removing all these and tidy up the pot take another look at the tree and then I’ll be doing some work with the top and I’ll carry on with this and we’ll catch up shortly.

I have cleaned the soil and freed it of debris and weeds so the green that you see is a bit of moss and I’ll give it a quick turn so you can see that the pot has been thoroughly tidied up and also the actual pot has been cleaned and I’ve always maintained that the job is not done if the pot has been cleaned so that’s turning the other way and that’s the front of the tree. We are now looking into the canopy of the tree and branches which are crossing or fighting with each other I’m going to remove and in this instance it is this branch here that I’m going to remove as I want this to develop a little bit more up here so this will be removed to make room for the other one and here we go that’s it that’s out I’ll go back in and clean it up a bit more make it flush cut looks a bit better here, where as before they were too close and just too much going on and it’s also not good for the branches lower down, as the Sun doesn’t get through.

`I have made a start working on the tree at the top the canopy, reducing, removing the dead branches and then also reducing the branches to create a much better canopy so we are basically reducing that and I’ll just go round the tree and see what else needs to be done firstly removing the dead branches. I’m going to start thinning out the foliage by pruning the leaves and again using the directional pruning method so as not to do too much wiring etc to shape it. I’m continuing with the removal of the dead stumps and dead branches and also shorting the branches, I am now going to remove this part of the branch up to about here that’s that one and this lower one will go back to about there that’s off and basically to bring the tree in, tighten it up a bit more the branches are a bit too long and I like to do the work slowly take it easy and that way gives me a chance to revisit the tree from time to time and do additional work that is necessary.

I am working to create a look where the lower branches such as this one here are longer than the upper branches and gradually work my way up that’s the strategy so I’m going to reduce this first to here, then take a look, no this is virtually same sort of length so I’ll reduce it back a bit more, to about there and now this this one will be reduced as its higher than that one and we’ll do it in two phases to start with and we’ll see how that looks and this branch here we’ll reduce it to about there and it makes a very big difference although its a few inches long but as we work towards the apex the tree is being gradually pulled in and it’ll make a denser canopy and I can see it it’s already coming along quite nicely this branch here where my hand is, just above this branch here I’m going to shorten the top one again to create that layered effect so we will take this back to where there is a few leaves coming off of it so I’ll get back to about there and now that really opens up the lower branch and again the one which is doubling back, we’ll remove that part there and also leaf prune it so that give it a little bit more of a directional prune.

Stand back and take a look, little bit better, now there are other bits which are sticking out so that’s the only way to stand back have a look, this bit is sticking out so I’m gonna reduce that to about there and have another look and also prune some of this thick foliage Dead branches come off and continue with clipping and directional pruning so it grows in a certain direction continue to move up wards, now I’m going to reduce this branch to there then we have again differential in height and this one I’m going to bring down to there so the difference between that that and then that one, that will leave it at that level but the one next to it this one here I will reduce that shortly. So it’s just like a haircut these bits are sticking out so I will shorten these then take another look and see if more shortening is necessary. It’s the old carpenters rule measure twice cut once and the same principle applies here .Now looking from that angle this branch is sticking out so I’m going to take it right back to about there and then these smaller branches will take over.

I have worked my way to the apex and now it’s time to thin this part here I’m going to remove this side branch so reduce it down to where the dead branch was and then take a look Right and now reduce this one, there is a dead stub here., and remove that and then reduce this, let’s see if we reduce it in stages to there So I’m going to have a little look, stand back and see, yes that now fits in a little bit better. Right folks there we are it’s all pruned the canopy is nice and tight and I’ll give it a quick turn so you can see it from all sides and that was a front where we started side one that’s the back, side two and that’s where we started, and the last thing that I’m going to do with this is, it’s time to feed it so I haven’t put the chicken pellets yet so these are the chicken pellets being scattered around the pot and they should keep it fed to the end of the season.

If you haven’t seen the first video then there is a link in the info card at the top right-hand corner of the screen click on that and it will take you to the first video when this tree was air layered and the air layer was separated, the roots on it are just amazing. Right folks that was the English Elm the upper part, it’s a tale of two halves and the lower part which is being grown in the raft style follows in part two so be sure to watch that. That’s all for now this is Iqbal Khan for mikbonsai in West London, until the next time. And now for the afterthought You love this . Bonsai Trees – Chinese Elm Bonsai Forest Field Grown Part 3 | mikbonsai | Bonsai Tips

Today I’m working on Chinese Elms, these were field grown in southeast England and the trunks were chopped and they were put together in a group planting I have pruned them previously and today we are going to repeat the process Hello everyone this is Iqbal Khan and today I’m working on this Chinese Elm field grown trees they have been planted in a group planting and I had pruned them a few times and they were just stumps when I started and the branches are coming along quite nicely and also they are thickening up very well. I have made a start and am now working on this side of the tree and these branches I have allowed them to really grow long and then prune them right back that way we end up with thicker branches and the ramification is better so now just going in and removing these thick branches and these again I don’t throw them away I will be propagating these to grow a little Chinese Elm trees so I’ll carry on with this and we’ll catch up shortly.

I have pruned the right hand side and the other side needs to be done. You can see the difference how different it looks the right side compared to the left side so now start working on the other side I have now turned the tree round and I will be working on this area here and I will explain the directional pruning method shortly after I have removed a few more of these branches.

I am making very good progress with the pruning and now I will remove this branch from the top and I have explained previously why I let these branches grow so long the idea is if they were only, say this long and I prune them out end up with a very thin branch whereas letting them grow long I end up with a much thicker branch when it’s pruned and now I want to talk about the styling of these trees they will not be wired the branches will not be wired in any way whatsoever and I’ll be using the clip in grow and directional pruning method when the branches grow all the energy goes to the end and the branch gets longer and longer and by reducing it and pruning it the energy which previously went to the leader and pushed it to grow is stopped as soon as this is pruned and the energy then it goes to the node between the leaf and the cut branch and the new growth comes from here and that is called directional pruning if I wanted the new growth to go in this direction I would cut it to here and the new growth will go in the direction that the leaf is pointing.

I have completed the pruning of this group planting and also removed a lot of dead branches and we just zoom out and – that’s the foliage of the tree, is much thinner and lighter and there were quite a lot of dead branches and that was because the light couldn’t get through and now the light will be able to get through and hopefully it will progress on to becoming a decent group planting. This is my field grown Chinese elm group planting of seven trees. I’ll give it a quick turn, that is the front, the taller trees at the front and the smaller ones at the back that’s the back of the trees and that is where started. That’s all for now.

Thanks for watching and to watch more please subscribe and ring the bell so you won’t miss anything. This is Iqbal Khan for mikbonsai in West London and now for the afterthought last night I went out with the wife for a drink and I said I love you. She asked is that you or the beer talking. I said it’s me talking to the beer. You dig ! .

Styling bonsai tree from yamadori Lonicera collected raw material – Tree 2 – Part 4 by mikbonsai

I’m going to wire them so that these two branches like this one will move up a bit and this will move down a bit so that they become one great big pad both these branches have been widened I’m going to lower this one and raise this one lower this one slightly and we do it again by bending the wire using strength of the wire to bend it and this one’s being wrote up so they basically are looking starting to look more of a pad as opposed to being at different levels and these again and we reduced but this one I’m going to leave as is this one I think I will wire this up these two up and this one I’m going to do choir up and move it a little bit towards the camera and this one also would wire it and bring it down so the crown is more pronounced so now we will continue with this wire and this unwinding in the anti-clockwise direction and sticking very close to the branch and at a 45 degree just wire it avoiding the foliage and round it goes moving the father’s out of the way now working with the wire that of the brows that have just been wired I’m just going to bend it very very gently using the strength of the wire and then I’m gonna straighten it up from this end is starting to point downwards which I don’t want no salt quite I’m not sure dude I’ve already started wiring this branch and we continue in a clockwise direction and as it’s going to be bent in the clockwise direction so again avoiding any foliage – just wouldn’t work some of these branches are quite good and I want to retain those so except it was out of the way so positioning this where there wasn’t a pad before and so that’s that’s done that’s right nicely positioned and just shooting a few more of the branches as they are little bit too longer and we’ll see if I can do something with this one to lower this just a few centimetres perhaps an inch or so and we’ll Y trying to wire this as well now continuing to wire this pad just moving away the foliage and the branches very congested here have to use tweezers to get them out of the way some of the branches are very very fine that’ll do bend it towards the camera downwards and towards the camera so do it very very gently it’s a very thick branch and this is two things one is down and then one is towards the camera now I want to do it very very gently as they break very very brittle and they break very very easily right there we have it I’m gonna shorten this as and now shorten these branches as as bad is about this pad the lower pad is much bigger so the upper part has got to be slightly shorter and in fact we will do the same with the pads higher up so I’m going to cut this wire back to mark here and reduce this so removing paw the white partially as this part is too is too long so you’re going to reduce it to about there so reduce that to up there it was much longer and and see lots of these paths I’m going to reduce now that it’s starting to take shape this is the time to do a bit of tidy up not too sure about this branch here but we’ll leave it for now it can always be removed later because this looks quite neat and tidy and then there’s this one or a sound so I’d me I’m tempted to remove this this branch we will take it out now and it’s done then I think it looks better without that launch and this is a potential this is also a potential front and so this interesting bit here the double trunk and then fusing up here and I have removed a very big branch from here earlier that was when I first worked on it give me a quick turn and that’s the button of our front as well I will continue to grow it in this pot for a while this is a foliage that we’ve taken off today quite a lot just reveal the bonsai that was hiding unrolled all that voltage I have done fair amount and I’m pleased with the progress that I have made with this tree the this was a leader previously which I have managed to wire and turn into a small pot and this one may be the new leader basically it is no growing is thinner and also there’s a fair amount of growth up here and it’ll be far easier to form a crown with this as well and with that just finish giving it a quick turn and that’s very storage although that could be the front but on this side there’s a big contract removed a very big drought when I first started but we’ll see how it develops that’s all for now thank you watching watch more please subscribe the second account forming bonsai in Westland

Larch Bonsai Trees how to care for Larch Larix decidua (European Larch) Pruning & care Part 1

Today I’m working on a notch it has been in this training bought for a number of years now and I’ve been going there for a specific purpose there is a arch group planting in the middle of which one tree is defective and it ruins the whole composition and this tree is being drawn with intention of replacing that defective cream I’m going to start at the work marry up these donkeys are very low so these are going to remove there’s also very loud this is going to come off – very very very close together those I’m going to remove as well but create more space between the bouncer the mobile volunteers are subside as they haven’t received as much Sun the word is shortly planted at the top to allow the Sun and the light to get through to the lower branches we won’t prove too much of the lower branches just shorten about you at the top these pointers of has impaired one of them have to come off and just continue working up again responders in this to God is going to the same point someone comes off and continue working my way up here also to blog is coming from the same point for this lower one is a fellow one that comes off and just work around this is too close to the trunk or just coming out for a primary point is to close the trunk so we’ll remove this power janessa’s again make a spread crotch here that comes off and shorten this concert it’s more smaller than this comes down here and same thing singles and up here and also as a t-bar effect here I’m going to attend this one and remove perhaps remove this one and return who not sure if I’m innocent leave then primary and we’ll come back I’ve heard some people say in doubt cut it out at the trees you can’t put it back so we have a dead branch here again is coming out of very close to another branch how is remove the dead and get it in this one and it’s very congested up here so we’ll have to spin it out of it we now move to the apex and cut short these punches they’ve got very long at the top and same thing with this one here I’m going to remove this launches quite thin and not much going on zoom out a little bit madness noise I’m going to remove is quite thin and too many launches up here so this one can come off right and let’s see now please don’t use are virtually coming out of the same spot these days so I’m going to remove this one yeah all on this side you already have branches so from this side we don’t so I’m going to retain this one and remove this one here remove it right up to the trunk right sector and also turn this up into gender founded a little bit more after the data and also remove the growth rather than close the trunk if a good makes the tree look juvenile so I mean as well so there are two branches coming out will same spots up and this top one looks with dead so does remove that one or clean apart on well now have another look at the tree and see if anything else needs to be done if any dead branches or two launches too close together I’ll just give it a turn and see if there’s anything else I can spot right now this one here is sound bending downwards are shortened that a bit because get launched here and Suns coming out as kind of straight into my eyes I’ll flip and move slightly and take another look it looks okay coming up here perhaps another minute on your shelf and remove this one cannot be round and also these love goals at the straight-up trunk will take that out also too close to the trunk apex will take that out and little bit more tidying up to the gum at the apex will remove that and also this one here had fly to the top I think that as far as I want to go today and we let it go for the season before I put it in the new plant large group planting that I have and yeah this is coming along quite nicely and it’s also has a nice ah of nebari tidy up the surface root area there is a little bit of moss on the plank at the base where the surface which is hood salt we just please clean it with a toothbrush and continue the other side is a whole lot of new route not a truth serum relief cause as we are remove this accessory just can you tidy up just going to scrape plate them off say we dry the part I haven’t watered it today he’ll be able to pull them out without too much difficulty here’s the cocoa brush to wash it all off unfortunately we are playing lying and I sometimes I forget well you know here the thing and I’m sorry for that top of the pot cleaned and tidied up and take a good look at the trees before I wrap this up we have done as much tidying up as I can today so that’s cool the work for today and didn’t be left as well under the net CV enough like hope to put it into the blue planting that I have in mind for this thanks for watching and watch more please subscribe this is picnic column for big bonsai in left London until the next time now for the afterthought what do you call a nose with no body nobody knows

Bonsai Novice step by step beginners guide to make a Bonsai tree from nursery plant by mikbonsai

Hello again, today I have purchased a Pomegranate tree and I will be re potting it and also carrying out little bit of pruning. There isn’t a great deal to prune but never the less some of the branches are getting rather long and they need to be cut back. This is the Pomegranate tree. This is the pot I have chosen to repot the repot the pomegranate in and I think it should look OK in this. I have now managed to repot it and it now remains to be firmed in and tied in with wires. its the wire cutter and cut like so, and same thing over here. With a chopstick make sure the that there are no air pockets and will be doing this for a little while.

Now I will give it a good soaking. Very fine spray and this should do the job, I also I can also soak it from bottom up (but not necessary in this case as just repotted). I think its done the water has come through the drainage hole, so that part is done. I will now give it a quick prune and doesn’t need a great deal, but here goes Ladies and ‘Gentlemen here is the completed version. Repotted, Pruned and wired. Thank you for watching. .

Bonsai lovers are very tolerant people they just hate bigotry, You Dig ! .
